Compared to other farm animal species, there are few validated animal-based measures\u00a0of sheep welfare have been developed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are opportunities to use qualitative judgements of behavior (Wemelsfelder and Farish, 2004<\/a>) and quantitative animal-based measures (Phythian et al<\/em>., 2010<\/a>). The table below highlights the measures that the AssureWel<\/a> project has\u00a0identified as being important to sheep welfare.<\/p>\n
